Product Description : Almost no accessory has gained such popularity in machine shops in the past decade or so as the digital readout. By keeping track of table movement electronically on an easy-to-read LCD display it is much easier to enter long dimensions accurately. No more counting handwheel revolutions. Just push a button to zero the display, and turn the handwheel until your desired stopping point is reached. Unlike more expensive DROs that measure table movement using etched glass scales and optical sensors, the Sherline DRO measures handwheel (leadscrew) rotation and translates that into a linear dimension electronically. Because Sherline uses precision rolled leadscrews that are very accurate and because travels are short on a machine of this type, this system works very well and keeps cost down. The readout displays to 3-1/2 decimal places (.0005) on inch setting and to .01 mm on metric setting. (The box cannot calculate between measurement systems but must be initialized to read the proper leadscrew pitch.) Also included is an RPM sensor and continuous readout of RPM on the display. Includes 120 V power supply and all necessary hardware for installation. No hole drilling is necessary for installation. Works with Sherline tools only.
